Agile Chemical Phases II & III

Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, Maryland
Project amount: $75 million
These projects are the 2nd and 3rd phase of the replacement of the Moser Nitration Plant which continues to be in operation. The project includes renovation #24 buildings in order to enhance chemical production, increase safety, and improve operability. Phase II was completed in 2014 and Phase III is slated to be complete in the summer of 2021.

Architect of the Capitol (AOC) Cooling Tower Upgrades

Project amount: $3.5 million
The Capitol Power Plant (CPP) was commissioned in 1909 with the sole purpose of heating and cooling different buildings throughout Capitol Hill using utility steam and chilled water. Originally, the CPP also provided electricity but later allowed PEPCO to take over that aspect in 1951. Since the plant started operations in 1910, the plant has had to be enlarged and renovated many times over to keep up with the expansion of Capitol Hill.
Work on this project included the rehabilitation of existing cooling towers, installation of supporting steel and pipe, and installation of new heat exchangers.

Fort Detrick – HVAC Replacement

The US Army Garrison, Fort Detrick, is a military base located in Fredrick Maryland. This base supports five agencies – The Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Health and Human Services. Fort Detrick offers support to all four military branches.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) was originally a small part of the Marine Hospital Service (MHS) that was created back in 1798. The main task of MHS was to examine seamen and their passengers for infectious diseases. Today, NIH continues to be part of the US Department of Health and Human Services and continues to excel and grow as a world renowned medical research institute.
The Bethesda’s NIH campus contains multiple data centers, hospitals, teaching facilities, a child care center, and multiple biomedical research facilities that all rely infrastructure. In 2016 the new Child Care Center, Expansion of Chilled Water and Thermal Storage project began construction. The IWSS Expanded Chilled Water Project and TESS Expanded Thermal storage were constructed to effectively control climate in all new and old facilities.
